Do your curls ever dry looking bent or tangled at the roots?
Go to genamarie.co/curl-coaching if you want help refining your technique, and we can chat to see if my Group Coaching Program is right for you! 💛
One of the most common things I see when watching people style is over-directing or brushing against the way their hair naturally grows.
When you pull hair too far forward, too far back, or straight up, it creates weird bends and frizz that no product can fix.
Instead:
-brush out for volume not straight up
-keep the hair moving in the direction it naturally lays
-brush or rake from underneath for volume
-define only where needed (like baby hairs + grays)
-then scrunch to set the clumps
Finger coiling isn’t mandatory. I only use it on stubborn pieces that refuse to clump or around new growth that frizzes easily.
Most of the time, the fastest method is:
brush → separate thick areas → scrunch.
Small technique changes like this can completely change how your curls turn out.
Go to genamarie.co/curl-coaching if you want guidance learning how to style your hair in a way that actually works, and we can chat to see if my Group Coaching Program is right for you 🤍
