Most beginners think they need more stylers to fix their routine.
In reality, most routines are missing something foundational first.
These 5️⃣ essentials are what actually make curls last beyond wash day:
1. clarifying shampoo removes buildup so stylers actually work
2. regular shampoo keeps your scalp balanced between clarifying washes
3. conditioner matched to your texture controls how heavy or light your routine feels
4. a prep product like a lightweight leave-in or heat protectant adds slip before styling and protects during diffusing
5. strong hold gel locks structure so curls last beyond wash day
That’s your foundation! If you're repairing damage, add a bond builder before adding another styler.
If wash day still isn’t working yet, a refresh spray usually isn’t the solution. Most people can refresh with just water once the foundation is right.
