Formed in the late 70s with Chrissie Hynde as their lead singer and main songwriter, the Pretenders went on to be one of the premier bands of the 80s, with their albums charting in the UK, the US and Australia.
On single, they had an amazing chart run throughout the 80s and 90s with titles such as “Brass In The Pocket” (1979: UK #1, US #14) and “Back On The Chain Gang” (1982: UK #17, US #5).
“Windows Of The World” appeared on the soundtrack of the 1988 film, “1969”, starring Kiefer Sutherland and Robert Downey Jr. The original recording was by Dionne Warwick in 1967.
Producer Nick Lowe worked with acts such as Elvis Costello, Graham Parker and The Rumour, Johnny Cash. He was also a singer in his own right, scoring with “Cruel To Be Kind” in 1979, which reached #12 in the charts in each of the US, the UK and Australia.
