PLEASE READ to understand: (Lyrics below) - Another epic song by a favorite band. I had my phanphic Come to Me in mind when I edited it, so only used 2004 movie. ;-)) For those who've not read my story, just think of this as the time Christine was separated from Erik after STYDI, in the months he put distance between them, and her feelings on the matter. For those reading my story- intro shows the failed audition, her ignorance of who he is at that time “I don’t know his name, monsieur” – then jumps to memories/encounters Christine has of “The Phantom” and with him, once she's learned his identity and calls out to him (after he’s taken her back above), confused why he’s done this, etc. “Washed your hands…Living a lie” – Erik’s deception/masquerade for revenge – “You refuse to see you're denying me, the cross I bear, but you don’t seem to care”- Christine heartbreak that Erik is dead, later to find out it was all a lie and he put her through that, engaging in his cruel masquerade – “All you see is how you want it to be”- clip I used is to show Erik refused to see anything else other than what he believed- that she’d become Raoul’s mistress, etc, which he then felt justified to continue his lie/revenge. “Release me from the cross after all these years”- The pain of losing Erik, later finding out he’s alive, and the need to have him back as he was/things were. “Even though it comes far too late” – chapel scene as it was in story (as all chapel scenes show) when he relented and taught her his opera but wouldn’t show himself to her and the tension/angst this caused. “Cold is your silence” – his deception in treating her as a captive/ stranger – “denying what is real,” her never-ending love for him, close bond they shared, etc. The rest is pretty easy to figure out I think. If in doubt, ask. :) Every line of lyrics fits the story – up to where it is, and even a little beyond what I've written (the big revelation/ confrontation of that missing year, etc). Mostly told from Christine's POV, a little shown from Erik's.
