Very cool song for today. :) Lyrics follow story – Christine feels haunted by Erik, at times stalked by him, but his obsession to have her becomes her own - to be his - despite the danger he represents and the times she lets her fears overcome her. Note: where it says “raping you”- that is not to be taken in the context we use the word today - but rather for this vid, it means a raping of her senses - overwhelmed by his presence and helpless not to respond when he touches her and sings to her, etc., because of her deep feelings (love and lust) for him. Symbolism of effects- the blue/purple ghostly fire that flashes at beginning and end of vid symbolizes their deep passion and unity soul ties thru music – at first of vid he beckons her with it – at end of vid she succumbs, also showing her stronger. No longer a little girl trying to run from the monster he sometimes acts, but a woman confronting the man and her deep feelings for him - showing him she won't let him "pull her down' (frighten her into submission any longer) - but instead, seeks to find the real Erik behind the legend and the mask. Red lines – danger is approaching … red flashes – danger is here. The zoom transition – she is sucked into his world and into the man himself, trapped by his enigma and magnetism and her own burgeoning feelings for him.
