PLEASE READ – (Iyrics below) – Another cool song that fits them so well – story follows lyrics, told in Christine’s POV. Here is some of the symbolism meaning: The “poison” is the danger that is Erik, and when I show her drinking it – it’s to symbolize her choosing what he has to offer/drinking him in. Friends tell her he is dangerous and to stay away, and she knows they are probably right – but Christine is drawn to him for so many reasons, despite the danger, and makes her choice. “but the roses drain my inspiration” was a toughie to fit into this fandom, but I think I figured a way (lol) – the inspiration is her desire for other things (like Raoul) and in doing so, excluding Erik from her life (as she knows she should) – but the roses he sends her remind her of being with him and drain any former decision to forget him in her life… “The promises were spoiled before they left your lips…” – refer to Raoul and the promises he made her – which barely seem to matter after Erik’s own vows to her.
Lyrics to “Familiar Taste of Poison” (performed by Halestorm)
"Drink the wine, my darling" you said
"Take your time, and consume all of it"
But the roses
Were only to drain my inspiration
The promises
Were spoiled before they left your lips and
CHORUS
I breathe you in again
Just to feel you
Underneath my skin
Holding on to
The sweet escape
Is always laced with a
Familiar taste
Of poison
I tell myself
That you're no good for me
I wish you well (wish you well)
But desire never leaves
I could fight this 'til the end
But maybe I don't wanna win
CHORUS
I don't wanna be saved
I don't wanna be sober
I want you on my mind
In my dreams
Behind these eyes
And I won't wake up
No, not this time
CHORUS
A familiar taste of poison
A familiar taste
Of poison
(coming up: An Outlander vid to help a wee bit in managing the Droughtlander, another PotO vid, and a BatB vid)
