PLEASE READ (lyrics & dialogue below) – Another perfect song for this fandom, and since this is the time of year for it, I decided to do it now. :) Story follows lyrics and Jamie’s translation of the folk song. Symbolism – “an eagle’s wing” – eagles often depict freedom and strength- so I showed the clips here where Jamie set her free to go back. "owl’s cry" – owls are omens of death in many cultures (and in this vid I went with that idea). Jamie: - Now this one is about a man out late on a faerie hill. On the eve of Samain (Samhain), who hears the sound of a woman singing sad and plaintive from the faerie rocks of the hill…
I stood upon the hill, and the wind did rise, and the sound of thunder rolled across the land…I placed my hands upon the tallest stone and traveled to a far distant land, where I lived there for a time among strangers, who became lovers and friends.
Then one day I saw the moon came out and the wind blows once more, so I touched the stones and traveled back to my own land and took up again, with the man I had left behind.
Claire: She came back through the stones?
Jamie: Aye, she did…they always do.
