PLEASE READ to understand: (lyrics below)- Watch in HD for best experience. :) This vid is based on "Come to Me" (my PotO phanphic with a Wuthering Heights backstory) – Those who haven’t read story - think of this as the months’ long separation when Christine was absent from Erik, not knowing if she’d ever see him again, and desperately wanting to…for those reading my story (spoilers!)- this covers a good chunk of what I’ve written so far. The intro shows when they “reunited,” at the mirror- the squiggly lines are her confusion/apprehension. When the lyrics begin, it then jumps forward to the point when he brought her back above and she’s missing him, wanting to find him, now knowing who he truly is – “you don’t remember me but I remember you”- she recalls the only love she’s known and doesn’t understand why he sees her differently and played his cruel masquerade, a clip showing where she enlisted Meg’s help to reach him. (also, the white mask monochrome flashback symbolizes them in England years before). “I lie awake and try so hard not to think of you…And dream I do.” - When she does sleep, she dreams of her masked lover, as she has since they “met”. She takes off his ring, to hide it and avoid unwanted questions from those who don’t know her secret. 1st chorus: she’s upset and forlorn, thinking of Erik - both when she was in his lair, in his masquerade, and their past, in England, all of it showing her deep love and strong, soul-mate ties with him. (Most white masked clips are memories of him after she learns who he truly is at the opera house- star bg w/ black mask are memories of England, on the moors). “Have you forgotten all I know, and all we had”- shows the night she learned the truth after he ran from her bed, followed by snippets of what went on earlier between them. “You saw me mourning my love for you”- shows when he came to her, in dressing room, and what transpired after. 2nd chorus: shows when she found him spying and searched for him at night, in the tall hedgerows, but he disappeared. “I look in the mirror and see your face”- denotes the times she spoke to the mirror, hoping he’d hear, desperately wishing and imagining him with her. The last mirror part is symbolic of him slipping away, always elusive. Last part of song is in the present. The light comes on her face- symbolizing illumination- and in the chapel she makes a plan to reach him in one final desperate and reckless attempt, (her memories of their time together an impetus). All clips with Erik are her memories of times shared until it shows him in the flies, watching her bold performance from above as she carries out her plan, at the end. That is the present (with him) from then on. (The 1st time mid-song it shows him in the flies is also the present - him spying on her - though she senses it but doesn't see him)
