PLEASE READ to understand: (lyrics & dialogue below) -- Love these two- miss them, and decided it was time to do my tribute to "The Year of Delena" -- for all Delena fans out there! :) Story follows lyrics & their story- song told from Elena's POV to Damon. Damon fears that since Elena is sired to him, her feelings for him aren't real, no matter how she tries to convince him otherwise. He sacrifices what he wants and lets her go, then later, when Jeremy dies, tells a distraught Elena to turn her emotions off, so as not to feel anything. Partly he does both, because he can't stand to see her unhappy or in pain- but also because he is scared to be hurt again, thinking Elena doesn't really love him, that it's the sire bond. What he doesn't realize is that he created a monster, and soon comes to regret his choices- ordering her to turn her emotions back on. The sire bond now broken, however, she refuses, so Damon and Stefan struggle to make her turn her feelings back on, even to the point of vampire torture. When she does finally, emotionally breaking down, he realizes how he has screwed up her life, saying there's no apology in the world that can make up for what he's done and why he's wrong for her, again feeling that now that she is no longer sired to him, she will turn away, his words defensive since he believes he has lost- then she lets him know how she really feels about him...The purple tinged clips show the painful parts of their past. The regular clips that follow are what led up to that or what followed, except at the end where it leads into the future that then becomes the present. The soft-focused glow clips are happy moments remembered by Damon or Elena, depending on who is showing at the time. The red flashes- danger. 1st ones- she is now becoming a danger, 2nd- she is a true danger, and 3rd- she is in danger of losing it all. The black flickers during the rattling wispy sound- symbolize her feelings- first they move in one direction- toward Damon. When Damon tells her to turn them off, they show her emotions suddenly moving in the opposite direction- to show she is now opposite of the person she was. The rest of symbolism I'll leave to the viewer. :) The end might be a little cheesy- but it's how I felt when I saw that! lol ;-) Sparkle clips - thanks to SparkleyEdward

Elena- "Damon you can't keep telling me this isn't real. I know how I feel, and that you feel it too, so stop fighting it...Damon please!
Damon- "I'm setting you free, Elena. This is what I want, this will make me happy."
E- "Does this feel wrong?"
D- "Turn it off..."
E- "I'm not going to let you pull that this time! Take the cure with me."
E- "Maybe you're the one who needs help with your emotions...not me."
D- "May I?"
E- "No."
E- "If you do manage to get my emotions back, I'll remember all this, and I'll hate both of you for it."
