And now here is a modified version of the deck I used to fulfill missions about using 12 or more cards from Ruler of the Skies. This set has a lot of rarer cards that form obvious synergy with each other, which I don’t currently have and so I can’t make a deck out of them, so here is something that doesn’t need anything above 3-diamond rarity.
Despite the set featuring the mighty Mega Rayquaza ex, this deck is about the humble Wurmple and what it can evolve into…which, in the video games themselves, are still behind the curve. But we’ve had a Dustox ex in Generation III, so the TCG not only has never cared about that aspect, but TCG Pocket has inherited the way of thinking too.

Both Silcoon and Cascoon have the same attack for 1 Colorless Energy: Cocoon Collector, which lets you fill your Bench with all the remaining Silcoon and Cascoon from the deck. From there, it’s easy to evolve them into Beautifly and Dustox, who work with each other.
An important distinction is that Cocoon Collector can only put them into play from the deck, not your hand. Hence, we have May, Kid’s Room, and indirectly, the second Wurmple in case you get more of the cocoons in your hand than you need. (And because of how you must limit how many are in your hand, you may not want to play Professor’s Research immediately.)
Beautifly does 30 damage for each Evolved Pokémon you have in play, which includes Silcoon and Cascoon put into play via Cocoon Collector. Dustox can inflict Poison, Burn, or Confusion through its Ability, “Variety Powder.” Beautifly can then inflict up to 150 damage per turn, more than some Pokémon ex, for one Grass Energy. Confusion also helps you hold up against Pokémon far stronger than anything in this deck if you get lucky.
As Grass Pokémon, they get a +30HP boost through Leaf Cape, which puts Beautifly’s HP to 160, a number that turns its matchups positive against the likes of Hydreigon, Giratina ex, Vespiquen ex, and Suicune ex. You can get a Leaf Cape easily through Kid’s Room. The cocoons can also evolve through Quick-Growth Extract, though in a pinch, you can also use it on Wurmple. It gives you extra options and effectively fills in for any evolved Pokémon.
The Rare Candy is there because of the possibility that your opening Silcoon or Cascoon is knocked out. This will leave the second Wurmple and at least one Beautifly or Dustox, and Rare Candy helps bridge that gap and put you back in the game.
In this match, I was up against none other than that mighty Mega Rayquaza ex. This would be a lopsided matchup in the video games, but I was able to put them in a tough spot, such that they decided to stall out the timer, despite them taking out a Cascoon earlier on, necessitating me use my second Wurmple with a Rare Candy.
