I start by nabbing some of the treasures in Icirrus City.
You may have noticed it already in other areas, but here you will for sure notice that there's something you can detect but not pick up.
Some of the areas change their layout depending on the season, some have minor changes, whilst others have large areas only accessible during certain seasons (either rain/ice association - usually) Thankfully the seasons advance every month rather than every 3 months. During Winter there will be snow so you can get the rest of the treasures here.
Time for Icirrus Gym, which whilst we're talking about Winter (and it being so here in the Northern Hemisphere) the Gym is an Ice type one with the usual sliding type puzzles, that at least have slight variable elements. Emboar being Fire/Fighting really shines here, so much so, that Flame Charge settles most of the battles here.
So naturally, Excadrill gets used for the Gym Leader instead. Not a terrible choice at all. Rock Slide after a Swords Dance one hits everything, although that first turn miss made me wish I had Hone Claws back. You'll get the Freeze Badge and Frost Breath TM for winning. Frost Breath always critical hits so its an effective 80BP that ignores enemy stat changes, but Ice types aren't that great in this game, and outside Mew they're the only Pokémon to learn it in this generation.
We get congratulated by Cheren and Bianca but then the Shadow Triad turn up again. We're pointed towards the Dragonspiral Tower, where N apparently is.
On the way to the top you'll find Tin Tower like mini-puzzles and Grunts. Galvantula is my Pokémon of choice here. Thunderbolt put in work, and Signal Beam was good when that wasn't.
You'll get surrounded by Four Grunts under the orders of a Sage, but like most of the Grunts in the game, underlevelled and only a couple for the most part.
At the top you meet N, and he has finally summoned the Legendary Dragon Pokémon, Zekrom. He suspects you are the other Hero and that you should search out and use the Light Stone to summon Zekrom's counterpart.
Alder comes in and tells us that N is spekaing the truth about their being two Legendary Dragon Pokémon, and we now decide to search Relic Castle.
We've been there before, so head on over and time to explore it more (although not completely - we'll do that postgame).
use the E entrance and fall through the holes, fighting more Grunts on the way. The path of Grunts will point you in the direction to go. Nab the Sahdow Ball TM by the Grunt and head down. Fall down the central hole in the room with three and nab the items, then head back up and take the SW one.
At the bottom Alder and Ghetsis are there and Ghetsis elaborates on his plan. Giving off Vegeta vibes, they want you to catch Reshiram, the other Legendary Pokémon so they can utterly defeat you and the Elite Four and Champion giving their command to release Pokémon a perceived higher sense of authority.
Next we head over to Nacrene and Lenora hands over the Light Stone from the museum's possession. Now we have what we need to summon Reshiram, but first we have to defeat the final Gym trainer and take on the Elite Four. The former of which we'll do in the next part.
0:00 - Icirrus City
2:35 - Icirrus Gym
12:00 - Icirrus Gym Leader Brycen (Freeze Badge)
18:30 - Dragonspiral Tower
38:55 - Relic Castle
