๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐บ ๐๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐ด๐ญ๐ฎ was a scheduled international passenger flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles with intermediate stops in Denpasar, Sydney, Nadi, Honolulu and Los Angeles. The flight was being operated by a Boeing 707 (Reg. N446PA) on ๐๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐น ๐ฎ๐ฌ, ๐ญ๐ต๐ณ๐ฐ.
The plane departed Hong Kong at 11:08 GMT. At 14:28 PA-812 was cleared by Jakarta Area Control Centre to descend to FL280 from FL350. PA-812 established its first contact contact with Bali Tower at 15:06 and was instructed to contact Bali control. At 15:20 PA-812 established contact with Bali Tower informing outbound procedure, followed by a request for lower altitude. Clearance was given to descend to 2,500 feet. At 15:23 the plane reported reaching 2,500 feet and Bali Tower gave instructions to continue approach and to report runway in sight. Acknowledgement was made by PA-812 by saying "Check inbound".
At 15:26 the pilot-in-command requested the visibility by calling "Hey - Tower, what is your visibility out there now?" However, according to the ATC voice recorder this message was never received by Bali Tower. Apparently this was the last message transmitted by the plane. Bali Tower kept trying to contact the plane by calling "Clipper 812, Bali Tower, how do you read" several times. However, no answer was received by the plane. It was subsequently found that the plane hit a mountain approximately 37 NM North-West of Ngurah Rai Airport. The plane was totally destroyed and all 107 people aboard were killed.

"The Board determines the probable cause of this accident was the premature execution of a right-hand turn to join the 263 degrees outbound track which was based on the indication given by only one of the ADFs while the other one was still in steady condition."
