First off, apologies to my Police subscribers for what must seem like endless vids of the same Genesis cover!
People have been asking me to do an overhead angle for some time now, and I decided last weekend to have a go, just after having done a 'more normal' angle of Genesis Firth Of Fifth. This hectic drum cover seemed to be a good candidate for an overhead trial, and so this is what you get.
Please bear in mind that I was not trying to get a perfect take of this cover here - as far as I was concerned I had already recorded and posted my best attempt at this epic section of the Old Medley. This was all about seeing what things looked like from above, and whether my camcorder was in a suitable location, perched in the rafters of my garden / summer / drum room.
I think the angle is great, personally! It's weird seeing things from above. I was surprised to get both my feet in as well, and even a hint of facial expressions. I was distinctly UPSET by the presence of what can only be described as a bald patch - I didn't even know I had that until reviewing this video. Pants.
Apart from that, I am not sure what you will think of this as a take - is it better or worse or just different to the other two takes..... You will spot a fill that I do too early, and then have to repeat in the correct place, for a start!
As it resolves into I Know What I Like at the end, I was thinking, 'might as well carry on to the end', and so that is what you get. So the next video is the end of the medley, from above.
Once again, apologies if you are a Police subscriber. I promise you that I am working very hard on Murder By Numbers, and if I say so myself, I think the wait will be worth it: I am really excited about that one!
