After having worked as a press photographer in South Africa Cape Town born director Oliver Hermanus studied at the London Film School and celebrated the premiere of his first feature film SHIRLEY ADAMS (2009) at the Locarno Film Festival. After opening at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011, his second feature film SKOONHEID / BEAUTY (2011) was nominated as Best Foreign Language Film for the Academy Award 2012. To us he spoke about its subject: Obsession.
