Michael Althen was one of Germany's most famous film critics. Previous to his editorial job at Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung he used to review for the Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Die Zeit and magazines like Spiegel. How can we deal with our memories of films? And does film history also enclose a „phantom world behind the screen"? We spoke with Michael Althen about film history and remembering.
