"First Skip" because this will almost definitely remain the first skip in any run from now on.
This is a 1-2 second time saver, skipping the cutscene shown at the end of the video. The idea is to do a wall-jump over the torii, which allows you to clear the trigger. The trigger is quite tall and reasonably long, so you need to have full momentum coming out of the wall jump to clear it
Wall-jump momentum is based on Ammy's lateral speed when you start the wall-jump. This means that if you just jump straight at a wall, you'll have a very narrow (possibly 1 frame) window to press jump and still get full momentum, since the next frame Ammy will hit the wall and come to a stop.
We can mitigate this issue by curving our path in mid-air so that we start moving parallel to the top of the torii, giving us a much larger window to get the wall jump. From there, it's just a matter of curving our path to clear the trigger.
If after the wall jump you don't have full speed (it's very noticeable when this happens), you can air tackle and still usually clear the trigger, though this loses about 1s.

This run was beaten on March 19, 2020 by Krinoteder (2h 25m 57s https://youtu.be/zwGx7p1IfkI). Congrats!
Ive spent the past few days de-rusting in preparation for SGDQ submissions, with the goal of breaking WR so I could have an up-to-date video to submit. This run definitely beat my expectations in that regard. I created a 2m lead pretty early by correcting mistakes and having good fights early-game, and pretty much held onto it for the rest of the run by playing consistently well.
I do still think this category has a fair way to go in terms of development. The past weekend has shown me that there are still new tricks and optimizations to be found, and this run still has several minutes of time-save left in it. Sum-of-best is 2:17:36 now, which makes me feel that a dedicated person really could break 2h 20m.
This run beats the previous wr by me (2h 28m 07s https://youtu.be/OHmuhVEitUY) by 1m 47s.
