President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. administered the oath of office to the newly elected officers of the National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL) and urged them to lead with integrity, compassion and service during a ceremony at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace on August 26, 2026.
Speaking before the NMYL officers, President Marcos Jr. said their election reflects the trust and confidence of their fellow members in their leadership, competence and commitment to public service.
He also encouraged the young legislators to continue contributing to responsive, inclusive and people-centered governance as part of the Administration’s broader nation-building efforts.
The NMYL is an organization of elected local lawmakers aged 40 and below, including municipal and city councilors, vice mayors, provincial board members, and vice governors. Founded in 1991, it promotes good governance and ethical leadership through responsive legislation and policy development. Guided by its advocacy for New Politics — anchored in Principles, Platform and Performance — the NMYL partners with the national government to advance nation-building and local development.
