Norfolk & Western Class J 611 made it's third visit to the Virginia Scenic Railway in June and July 2026. These were the first steam excursions on the line outside of the fall season, as well as the first to operate East of Stanton, running several itineraries between there and Louisa, on the other side of the Blue Ridge. These trips also coincided with the 250th anniversary of American Independence; to celebrate the occasion, 611 was given a special red, white & blue makeover.
Huge thanks to Eli at The Crowned Signal for lending me the drone shot at Crozet and some audio from the tunnel to make up for a microphone malfunction.
