Over Labor Day Weekend 2022, the Illinois Railway Museum of Union, Illinois was operating a busy schedule of trains on their four-mile line. Running on Sunday, September 4 was Frisco 2-10-0 no. 1630, J Neils Lumber Co. Class-C Shay no. 5, the Nebraska Zephyr trainset, and a selection of electric streetcars and interurbans. As is traditional for Labor Day at IRM, the trains ran all day and well after dark, finishing around 10pm. This made for a wonderful and rare opportunity to see and ride vintage railroad equipment at night outside of holiday events. Despite cool & cloudy weather I thoroughly enjoyed my second visit to America's largest railroad museum and I look forward to my third, whenever it may be.
