Subnautica 2 already has plenty of dangerous alien life, but there are even more creatures coming in future updates. In this video, I showcase and break down 3 upcoming / unreleased creatures connected to Subnautica 2: the Scourge Hive, the Elusive Leviathan, and a new blind monster teased by the developers in the recent Swimming Forward dev vlog. The dev vlog itself was published as an official Subnautica 2 video after the Early Access launch, so the blind creature tease is separate from the modded/unreleased content being shown from the files.
Important disclaimer: some of these creatures are unreleased or unfinished game-file content, and the final versions can change. Models, names, behavior, spawn locations, aggression, attacks, abilities, and release timing may all be different when they officially appear in Subnautica 2. This video is a showcase and theory breakdown, not a confirmed final creature guide.
The first creature is the Scourge Hive, also called the Hive Scourge in some hidden content discussions. This thing looks like a spinning UFO crossed with an underwater crustacean, and it appears to be home to hundreds or even thousands of tiny piranha-like fish. These little creatures look almost like tiny leeches, and they appear to move in massive clouds around the hive like underwater bees.
Right now, the Scourge Hive and its tiny swarm do not seem to properly affect the player or the creatures around them, but that will likely change if the creature is finished and officially added. A hive creature that releases swarms of tiny biting fish could become one of the creepiest future hazards in Subnautica 2. Instead of one big predator chasing you, the danger could be a living cloud of tiny attackers that overwhelms you through numbers.
The second creature is the Elusive Leviathan, one of the strangest unreleased leviathans found so far. Visually, it looks like a cross between an orca whale and a wendigo, with a haunting body shape and a much more ghostly presence than the current aggressive leviathans. But despite how wicked and dangerous it looks, the Elusive Leviathan appears to be non-aggressive right now.
What makes the Elusive Leviathan so interesting is its cloaking behavior. If you turn off modded invisibility, it immediately starts to emit smoke, hides itself from view, and then disappears. That fits the name perfectly. It is not a leviathan that charges you like a normal predator. It seems designed to be seen briefly, then vanish, making it feel more like a rare supernatural ocean encounter than a standard attack creature.
There is also speculation that the Elusive Leviathan may eventually appear near the massive World Tree on the other side of the map, but nobody knows for sure when, where, or even if that final spawn behavior will be added. For now, it is best treated as unfinished hidden content with a very strong creature concept. Community discussion around the Elusive Leviathan has also been filled with uncertainty over whether it is a future official creature, leftover test content, or something that will change before full release.
The third creature is the most mysterious because it was teased by the developers, but not fully shown in-game yet. In the recent Swimming Forward dev vlog, the developers showed a picture of a new blind-looking monster. Based on the image, the creature appears to have no visible eyes, which suggests it may live in a very deep and dark biome where eyesight is not useful. That means it may hunt using sound, smell, vibration, movement, or some other alien sensory system.
A blind deep-sea predator would fit Subnautica perfectly. The scariest creatures are often the ones you cannot easily predict. If this creature lives in the dark and tracks sound or movement, players may eventually have to be quieter, avoid sudden movement, use decoys, watch their vehicle noise, or rely on new tools to survive encounters.
Taken together, these 3 creatures show how Subnautica 2 could expand in very different directions. The Scourge Hive could add swarm-based danger. The Elusive Leviathan could add rare stealthy ghost-like encounters. The blind monster could introduce deep biome horror based on sound, smell, or vibration instead of vision.
