In 1962 the Goldfinch was updated again. The engine was increased to 83 cm³, further increasing the bore to 48 mm (the power increased to 2.9 HP and the maximum speed to 65 km/h) and made startable even with the gear engaged. The rear suspension was transformed into a swingarm assisted by two telescopic shock absorbers. Other changes concerned the tank, which was more square and capacious, the stand, the footboards, the toolbox and the exhaust. Always available in the two Turismo and Lusso versions, which differed only in the seat (single-seater with luggage rack on the Turismo, two-seater on the Lusso), the Cardellino 85 was offered at 105,000 lire. The Goldfinch's career ended in 1965, when, increasingly less requested by customers due to its poor performance and competition from mopeds on the one hand and small cars on the other, Moto Guzzi stopped production.
