The Moto Guzzi 250 TS was a motorcycle that Moto Guzzi produced from 1974 to 1982. Moto Guzzi and Benelli had merged in the early 1970s when both companies were bought by the car manufacturer Alejandro de Tomaso. Badge engineering was applied from that merger onwards, resulting in many models being sold under both brand names. One of the first models was a 250 cc two-cylinder two-stroke, which was sold as the Benelli 2C and the Moto Guzzi 250 TS. However, the Moto Guzzi was not completely identical to the Benelli. The Guzzi received aluminum cylinders with chrome liners, while Benelli still used cast iron cylinders. The styling of the machine was identical to that of the 350 GTS and completely new for Moto Guzzi. This was because De Tomaso employed a number of car designers who were responsible for the new appearance. The 250 TS had a transversely mounted air-cooled two-cylinder two-stroke inline engine. Two 25mm Dell'Orto carburetors were used. The cylinders were cast in one block, but the cylinder heads were separated. Electronic ignition was used from 1975. The machine had a multi-plate wet clutch and a five-speed gearbox. The secondary drive was via a chain. A double cradle frame was used. There was a hydraulically damped telescopic fork at the front and in the first year of production there was still a drum brake in the front wheel. In 1975 it was replaced by a disc brake. The rear was sprung via a swingarm with two hydraulic shock absorbers with external coil springs.
