The 850 T5 appeared in 1983. This car was actually built very differently from its predecessor. The T5 had much sportier lines, and had a very low-line bikini fairing around the headlight, which offered little protection to the rider. It passenger seat and tank were all new, as were the side covers, bumpers and passenger bracket. In line with the new V 50- and V 35 models, the cooling fins on the cylinders and heads were now square, giving the entire engine a more modern look. The alloy wheels have five spokes instead of six and measures only 16 inch, with which smoother cornering should be possible. The suspension was air supported at both the front and rear. The model was slightly modified cosmetically in 1984, but at the end of 1984 the 850 T5 NT (New T) also appeared. The car got the 18-inch rear wheel back to improve stability. The small fairing has also been renewed and the tank has been enlarged to 26 litres. The valve covers were painted black. In 1989 production ended. From then on, the duties of the 850 cc models were taken over by 1000 cc models such as the Mille GT.
