Here is a slice of Cold War living room gaming for you. WarGames landed on the ColecoVision in 1984, and instead of trying to recreate the whole movie, Coleco built the game around the film's most famous moment, the global thermonuclear war scene at NORAD. Your job is to defend the United States from waves of incoming missiles, jets, and submarines. Think Missile Command, but slower and way more tactical, spread across the map with a DEFCON meter ticking down on every sector. You get missiles, planes, subs, and satellites to work with, and each one has its own strengths, so you have to keep switching up your strategy or the whole country goes dark. It is one of the rare movie games from that era that people still say did its source justice. It even worked on the Adam computer, since that machine was built on ColecoVision hardware.
