This Tiger Electronics toy is such a fun crossover nobody really expected back in 1993. They took the classic Rock Em Sock Em Robots boxing concept everybody grew up with and completely reskinned it using Street Fighter II characters, putting Ryu and Guile into that same spring loaded punching mechanic where landing a hit could send the other guy's head popping up. Tiger added electronic sound effects and music on top to make it feel a little more tied to the actual video game, which fit their whole strategy at the time of pumping out Street Fighter II merchandise across every format imaginable, including separate simplified LCD handhelds for both the original game and Super Street Fighter II. None of these toys really captured the depth of the actual arcade or console versions, but there was something charming about smashing two completely different childhood classics together into one weird toy box mashup. It really shows how far companies were willing to stretch a hot license during peak Street Fighter mania. Did anyone here ever actually own or play one of these?
