After standing for over a 100 years, the unique Electric Steel grain elevator met its fate. It was a very well built structure, and didn't come down until the third attempt. This elevator was one of many that the railroads used to service non-stop back in the height of milling in this area.
This area will now be used as a sports complex by the U of M. That is a far cry from its glory days as an important milling area dominated by railroads.
