Rare, and unique, Santa Fe power made its way up to the Twin Cities this weekend! This was in the form of a GP50, and repainted SD40-2; BOTH leading on the mainline. The 3167 still proudly sports the paint it was delivered with, way back in 1981!
The two trains in this video were GALNTW and NTWGAL. We'll first encounter the 3167 as it races past on the Saint Croix sub towards Northtown Yard on the GALNTW. After this, we'll see it at Saint Paul Park, and screaming up Como Hill. Only two of the four units were online, and it sounded AMAZING. The following day, BNSF 1766 lead the NTWGAL, and took this unique, rare, and cool power back to Galsburg, IL. On its return trip, we'll see it at Mississippi St, and easing into Bluff Yard. This was a nice treat to see, especially in 2023!
