This is the original United Artists opening titles to the 1933 Disney cartoon The Steeple-Chase, scanned from a 9.5mm Pathéscope print from 1952. The print was silent like all such releases, and anyway its original opening and closing themes had already been lost by then – the US “burlap note swirl” reissue uses the early 1940s Donald Duck theme for the opening and the closing theme from Lend a Paw (the same soundtrack is also featured on the recreated Treasures version). However, I recently acquired a 1930s German sound print where the original soundtrack was present and I’ve used it here. The Pathéscope print did not have the original closing title, so I’ve left it black and only used the sound.
