Disney cartoon compilations were popular attractions at cinemas for decades, before they were replaced by home video releases in the mid-1980s. To tie the cartoons together, the Disney studio would usually create a new opening segment, and, for international distribution, a set of translated title cards. Whenever possible, they reused original background art, as seen in these 11 examples made for the West German market in the 1960s. I’ve posted the title card for Don Donald seen here before – it’s not the original, even though it does reuse the original background and parts of the original title.
