Difficulty: Level 8. No cheats used. As always, apologies for the scratchy sound of the video at certain points. Fraps does it when recording Kawaks and I still don't know why, or how to fix it.
Anyway, I'm attempting to one life clear Metal Slug 2 right now, and it's taking me a long while to even figure out mission 6. I have everything up till Mission 6 covered, but Mission 6 itself is a pain in the butt. So here's a filler video so that I don't feel like I'm neglecting this channel.
As a fan of the Metal Slug tank, I wondered one day if it was possible to beat Hozumi without getting the Slug damaged, without ejecting the Slug, without grenades, and with only 10 cannons. I wondered because the boss' attacks are a pain to dodge even when on foot, let alone in a bigger and slower Slug. Not to mention, it seemed horribly out of place fighting Hozumi. I then found out you had to manipulate the boss' movements, and be prepared for its cheap spread attacks. But even knowing this doesn't make the fight any easier, because it involves snap decisions mostly, and I'm horrible at snap decisions. Regardless, I'm proud to say that I've done it.
...and then I had the bright idea of putting that new knowledge into other uses, like fighting the boss on foot with only 10 grenades and a pistol. And then I wondered why not do Metal Slug X's version to see if they changed the boss any. They've reduced the speed of the attacks by a lot, at least, for the first few phases. I use all of my bomb supplies in the first phases because ironically I hate them more than the "angry" phase attacks. I'm more used to the timing to dodge "angry" attacks, and since almost all of them are aimed anyway, you'd just have to keep moving and they won't hit you, unlike the slower attacks that linger onscreen and stay a threat longer.
Also, as can be seen in my pretentious intro screen, I'm learning Japanese.
