For this level, I originally researched and found mario was faster. However, that research was old and may no longer be true. This TAS of GS3 by PurpleSun uses luigi and does movement better than previous luigi movement that I had seen: youtube.com/watch?v=MhqGMs8oWSw&feature=youtu.be
This level is mostly pure optimization of long jumps and lines to take with rock mario. I closely followed what the TAS does and then deviate to zig-zag skip at the end. This can still be lowered both through the TAS strat of rock jumping over the bridge and through hitting less crystals along the way to the star.
I tried the rock jump for a while and got it once over about 2.5 hours. I choked that run and settled for this. I didn't want to give myself repetitive stress injury. Here's the choke and also a funny bumper moment after: youtu.be/4EJ3PuncP-4
