Restoring a Lesney Matchbox No. 25C Petrol Tanker, in the Matchbox range from 1964 until 1968.
Someone had really gone to town trying to paint over the original green, white and yellow BP livery of this Matchbox 25C Petrol Tanker. I guess they just liked that camo aesthetic?
I've seen countless versions of this casting come and go over the years but this repainted disaster was actually the first I've seen to still have it's plastic interior. So often these are missing and that's because they are clip on parts to the frontmost axle which serves as the hinge for the tilting cab.
That tilting cab was a fallacy. Real Bedford TK's never had titling cabs. Produced between 1960 and 1992, the TK had a static cabin but could come with a rigid chassis or as a tractor unit. They were also adopted by the British Army as the Bedford MK/MJ and served up to 2014. The model was in production by Lesney for the Matchbox range between 1964 and 1968.
