I'm not going to dignify this heartbreaker of a run with a detailed description.
Here's what happened:
Everything was mostly fine until Wario.
I worked really hard to get Mario Grand Slam, Monty Mole 3 Home Plate, and Luigi Jumping Catch in Wario.
I managed to get Mario Grand Slam and Monty Mole 3 Home Plate by the top of the 5th inning, but still needed Jumping Catch, so I scored as many runs as I could (TWENTY ONE TOTAL) so that I could just pitch easy ones at the CPUs until one of them worked.
None of them worked. Eventually I got three outs anyway.
I went back into Wario for Jumping Catch (I could not finish the run without it) and spent another 9 minutes trying to get this one goal. Eventually the computer mercy rules me out of the match.
At which point I found out I somehow got the goal that match without realizing it.
Then I played Toy Field, repeatedly, as the game dangled victory in front of my face and snatched it away. Over. And over. Again. Until I FINALLY managed to get a win.
Then I cleaned up Bowser in like 9 minutes.
I am very clearly capable of getting not JUST a world record in this category, but a good one. Less cruel Jumping Catches and Toy Fields are what stopped me today. What a mess.
