My timer is paused, and my rest break begins, at 9:31:14. Unfortunately, due to misconfigured OBS settings, gameplay audio is 1.25 seconds ahead of the gameplay footage - this is something I lack the technical expertise to fix but hopefully does not impact the validity of this run.
This is, as far as I know, the world's first fully recorded completion of a Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 Max Catalog Speedrun - a hypothetical category of runs in which the goal is to obtain the Catalog entry for every monster available to a single cartridge of the game, without the use of major glitches (such as save corruption). That's 310 monsters! This video is also intended to support my application for a Max Catalog category on this game's Speedrun.com leaderboard.
This segment, the second of three, contains nine and a half hours of the run, continuing where Part 1 left off on July 4, 2025 (I had to split the segment because Youtube has a 12 hour limit on videos). In this segment I acquire and investigate the Magic Keys that I need to finish the run - mostly by throwing myself against the Arena repeatedly for a chance at more Keys (along with cash, as a consolation prize).
I'm still working on my recommended category rules, including rules for rest breaks - this run needed to take a rest break to finish, after all, and I'm hopeful that someday someone else will want to attempt this challenge as well. I'm also hard at work on improving the route, such that I'm able to get a much better time when I next give this a shot. Sub-20 seems ambitious but doable, especially if my current hypothesis that the later parts of the run would be much faster with an even stronger pair of GoldGolems turns out to be correct. I don't know when my next attempt will be but I'll announce it everywhere I usually do, so don't miss it!
If you have any questions about this run or any aspect of Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 for the Game Boy Color, ask away in the comments! I love talking about this game.

![Paragoombas Crack a long hit! Mystery Solved
We knew that Paragoombas Star Mission Crack a long hit! wasnt what it appeared to be. By examining the Japanese version of the game, I discovered what it ACTUALLY was... and even what went wrong.
[Spoilers: its Cross home plate! and it was mislabeled during the localization of the game.]
This makes making Paragoomba a Superstar both easier and less frustrating! Hooray!
PS: THE JAPANESE IS RONGU HITTO, NOT LONGU HITTO, I AM AWARE THAT JAPANESE DOES NOT HAVE A NATIVE VOICED ALVEOLAR LATERAL APPROXIMANT CONSONANT :) :) :) :) Paragoombas Crack a long hit! Mystery Solved](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ciCn8WF1xA4/mqdefault.jpg)
