Oof. One of *those* runs... very, very good until something crucial goes wrong and the rest of the run falls apart. I'm really proud to have played so well, overall, and mitigated the damage of missing Dry Bones MVP in Peach about as well as I could. That said... I know I can do better than this, and I will. And overall, not too shabby.
What went well:
1st inning Mercy Rule AND Bowser Jr. Strikeout Mario in the first match (that's basically the ideal first match)
Yoshi 3rd inning Mercy Rule that got Bowser his Shutout
3rd inning Mercy Rule as Peach that got Dry Bones his strikeouts
Bowser's goals were completely finished after Peach
Back-to-back HRs was achieved in DK, which was solid
The All-Star match at the end was nearly perfect. 1st inning Mercy Rule and 4 at-bats for my opponents. I batted in just 1 extra RBI for insurance but it didn't cost much time. A magnificent final match.
What went wrong:
Dry Bones was not the MVP for Peach. My route did not account for this possibility, and I was knocked COMPLETELY off-guard. I'm still not sure why it happened- my RBI manipulation was pretty good- but it did, and that forced me to change the way I played DK and Wario to the run's detriment.
DK hit a soul-crushing 2-run HR in my match against him, pushing what would have been a 3 inning Mercy Rule into a 4th inning Mercy Rule.
The Wario match was awful. I was constrained by Dry Bones MVP, but had serious trouble actually batting runs in with every Dry Bones, which took Mercy Rule off the table.
What went alright but could have gone better:
The DK match was extended on purpose to secure Hammer Bros. 2 HRs. This worked, but cost some time- the Mercy Rule could have been 2nd inning if I hadn't done this... but there was no other opportunity to go for that goal safely, as both of my remaining MVPs were accounted for.
Bowser's fun. I'm gonna keep going. I want that sub-1-hour run!! 😈
