I visited the world-famous Maeklong Railway Market, not once, but twice in three days--not because I wanted to, but because I had to. In my opinion, our tour guide had made a major mistake and we had missed the best part of experiencing the train riding through the market, so I came back two days later and it was awesome! The Maeklong Railway Market is located about 50 miles from Bangkok. You can take the train here from Bangkok, but I took a bus as part of a day tour that included other places to visit. Because the train takes center stage, most people don't realize that this market is one of Thailand's biggest fresh seafood markets. After seeing the train go through the market from two completely different vantage points, I will also give you a tour of the market.
