While everyone visits Giza to see the Pyramids and the Sphinx, there are two lesser known, but interesting sites that I visited with my guide, Ahmed, who is an Egyptologist. The Valley Temple of Khafre is the temple where the body of Pharoah Khafre was taken before he was moved to his final resting place, The Middle Pyramid. It was here that he was prepared for the Afterlife. The temple is an architectual phenomenon, as the large stones were placed on each other with such precise fitting, that no mortar was required.
Near The Great Pyramid is the Tomb of the Royal Physician/Healer of Khufu. It was Khufu who built The Great Pyramid. To see the sarcophagus of the Royal Physician, you must bend over while you walk through a small tunnel. Ahmed tells us all about the history of both The Valley Temple and the Tomb of the Royal Physician/Healer.
If you are coming to Egypt, I strongly recommend hiring Ahmed as your guide for your private or group tour. Here is his email address: ahmeddhammaddd@gmail.com and his WhatsApp number is +20 106 062 5244.
