Since it is October I was looking for fun and scary games to archive. Then suddenly a game popped into my head that I have not touched in a very long time. Back when I got a Gamecube I also received it with the launch title of Luigi's Mansion. And revisiting this old classic was absolutely magical. The Gamecube in general is an amazing console with so many classic games and I immediately think back to my youth whenever I ponder upon the Gamecube library.
Luigi's Mansion was a very different type of game than the types his brother starred in. The theme revolved around ghosts and haunted mansions. And it took an alternative spin on what we knew of the Ghostbusters as Luigi is tasked with sucking up the ghosts with his Poltergust 3000. The game plays more like a puzzle adventure where you have to move through the mansion and solve puzzles that will get you keys or other items that you need to progress. Many of the puzzles focus on doing a certain action to make the ghosts vulnerable to be taken out. It is very fun to figure these puzzles out and the overal atmosphere is just great. It is creepy yet never gets too scary to where younger players cannot enjoy it. The game is quite short and I believe the later entries offer a longer experience.
I cannot wait to go on another spooky trip with Luigi and his friends when we eventually will archive Luigi's Mansion 3.
