The Lotus Europa was one of the two new castings introduced when Lone Star's Impy line was converted to the Flyers range in 1969. They came in light or dark yellow, or orange. Castings can be found with or without red stripe decals, red or blue interiors, or chrome hub style or Rostyle-style wheels.
My example had lost the hubs of its wheels entirely, had an issue with the engine cover not fitting correctly. I restored mine to factory spec, though the extent of that spec is difficult to ascertain as Lone Star models trim levels seemed to vary somewhat! I added some extra colour on mine for the tail lights too.
The Lotus Europa was an early mid-engined sports coupé built between 1966 and 1975. It followed the typical Colin Chapman ethos of simplifying, then adding lightness. Its fibreglass body was teamed with a lightweight chassis and an engine from a Renault 16 that had been uprated. It later also utilised the Lotus-Ford Twin-Cam engine.
