This beautiful American folk song which has its historical roots in the Appalachian mountains, has been covered by so many folk artists, and there are many different lyrical versions. I believe that it may have been taken to America from Scotland in the 18th Century, where much of the mountain music stems from, .I fell in love with this song, after hearing Dolly Parton's version.
