It’s easy to think that with landscape photography you have to go somewhere that has the wow factor when many of us have beautiful scenery right on our doorstep. In this video I go to a local woodland only twenty minutes walk from my front door, and find that it’s the ideal location for me to really concentrate on the detail of composition. In intimate landscapes like a woodland you have have to really stop and consider the details and forms that are right in front of you to build an image that finds simplicity amongst the chaos of tangled branches.
So far my journey towards my goal of becoming a professional photographer has been a little bit frustrating. I want to be doing everything at once, and I think that I have spent perhaps too much time considering my approach and strategy rather than focussing on what is important to me right now, which is improving my photography. I want to take better photos, and only practice is going to help me, so by visiting somewhere close to home it allows me to spend more time taking photos and less time dreaming about it.
