KULT News recently audited in what is arguably the cult capital of the world, Independence, Missouri. As always, we had the cops called on us multiple times.
Would responding officers recognize and respect our right to record in public or would they try to violate our rights?

Laws may vary but, generally speaking, in the United States, if you are in public you are legally able to photograph whatever you can see. Simply put, your eyes can’t be trespassed. Obviously there are some restrictions on this (i.e., bathrooms, dressing rooms, most courtrooms, locker rooms, etc.) but very few when you are in public. If you can see it, you can shoot it (this rule only applies to cameras.) This is not legal advice.
