Kristy Alger spoke about colonisation and capitalism’s connection to animal agriculture.
During the Dominion Animal Rights March 2025, protesters sat in the intersection in front of Flinders Street Station to listen to the words of Author and Animal Liberation Tasmania’s President, Kristy Alger.
“I’m not content to stand outside slaughterhouses anymore. I want to be in there. I want to be locked on in there.”
Kristy referenced Farm Transparency Project’s lock-on at Benalla pig slaughterhouse, where activists chained themselves to machinery in order to prevented the killing of pigs inside the carbon dioxide gas chamber, two years ago in April 2023.
Describing her participation and the action that she has taken for animals, she asked the crowd, “Where are you next? Who’s going to come along with us next?”
Kristy ended her speech with with a call to action and urged everyone to use their skillset to bring us closer to animal liberation.
