As the mother of 1-year-old Kahleb Collins prepares to spend the rest of her life in prison, the lead detective who investigated the Alabama boy's disappearance and death is revealing disturbing new details about the case.
What began with a deadly car crash in December 2024 quickly unraveled into a missing-child investigation. The wreck killed Kahleb’s 2-year-old sister and later claimed his father’s life, but their deaths led to another disturbing revelation: Kahleb had not been seen in months.
The search for Kahleb led authorities to a dark secret the boy's mother and father had been hiding. Evidence showed Kahleb had died and his remains had been disposed after enduring prolonged abuse by his father, Steven Collins.

Bailey has pleaded guilty to aggravated child abuse and first-degree domestic violence on July 10, and received two consecutive life sentences — the maximum punishment allowed for both convictions.
