On September 1, 2024. An officer from the Columbus Police Department responded to a BP gas station for the report of a customer damaging items in the store. When the officer arrived, a store employee explained that a female (Lorie) came into the store and wanted to buy a coffee and a bag of pork rinds. As Lorie was checking out, her card declined and the employee told her that she did not have enough on her card and Lorie became irate. The employee explained that Lorie slammed a can onto the counter three times damaging the can, and berated two of the employees while in front of other customers. The employee said Lorie also “spun” in the store “Causing Items to be disturbed on the shelves and at the register”. Lorie then left the store and continued up the street on foot.
While looking for the suspect, dispatch advised of another disturbance at an AMOCO Gas station with a female matching the description of the previous call. Lorie wanted a pack of Marlboro cigarettes that cost ten dollars, and a vape pen that was forty dollars. The total cost of the items she was attempting to purchase came to 57.00. Lorie stated that she wanted the items even though she didn't have enough money to purchase them. Lorie purchased a cheaper pack of cigarettes and left the store. Lorie returned shortly later, demanding a refund and asking for the Marlboro brand cigarettes before throwing the cigarettes she purchased at the cashier.
As the officer walked into AMOCO, he observed a female (Lorie) who he recognized from prior contacts. Lorie was irate, mad, and yelling at the store employee. The officer informed Lorie that she is being detained for an investigation of a prior incident at the BP Station down the street. She was handcuffed and transported back to the BP Gas station. The employees said that Lorie was being disruptive and it was determined that she would be trespassed from both stores and would be receiving two citations for disorderly conduct. Lorie was shouting things like "They're racist against white people", "The lady in the DOLLAR GENERAL stole my money", and "I paid for my stuff and when I turned around, she stole my money from my card". Lorie was provided a ride home and all of her charges were dismissed after a competency hearing.
