On October 15, 2023. An officer from the Sun Prairie Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver (Robert) had slurred speech and an officer noticed an open alcohol container inside of the car. The vehicle also had a smashed driver side mirror being held on by wires. Robert was asked to step out of the vehicle but asked the officer if he could put his pants on first. When questioned, Robert said that he took his pants off because he was “passing gas”. While putting his pants on, an officer had to inform Robert that he was putting them on backwards. He exited the vehicle and almost fell over while putting his shoes on. Robert was found guilty for Refusal to Take Test for Intoxication After Arrest, and Operating While Intoxicated (4th) offense, a class H felony. He was sentenced to 24 months in prison, 24 months of probation, his drivers license got revoked for 3 years and he was ordered to pay $1969 in fines.
