On June 13, 1935, James J. Braddock challenged Max Baer for the World Heavyweight Championship at the Madison Square Garden Bowl in Long Island City, New York, USA.

Known as one of the greatest upsets in boxing history, the fight inspired the film Cinderella Man. Entering as a 10-to-1 underdog, Braddock shocked the boxing world with a disciplined and courageous performance against the powerful defending champion.

Using intelligent footwork, a sharp left jab, and effective counterpunching, Braddock consistently frustrated Baer over the 15-round championship distance. Despite Baer's dangerous punching power, Braddock maintained control for much of the contest and earned a well-deserved unanimous decision victory.

The victory completed one of the most remarkable comeback stories in sports history, as Braddock rose from financial hardship during the Great Depression to become the World Heavyweight Champion.
