On December 2, 1907, Canadian heavyweight champion Tommy Burns defended his title against British challenger "Gunner" James Moir at the National Sporting Club in London, England.
Burns, standing only 5 ft 7 in, gave up significant size and reach to the 6 ft 2 in Moir, yet demonstrated superior speed and technique. The fight ended in the 10th round, when Moir was unable to continue, resulting in a TKO victory for Burns. This bout was part of Burns' historic world tour as a defending champion, which helped internationalize the heavyweight title.
