On August 18, 1936, heavyweight sensation Joe Louis faced former World Heavyweight Champion Jack Sharkey at Yankee Stadium in New York City, USA.

At just 22 years old, Louis was rapidly becoming boxing's biggest attraction and entered the bout as one of the leading contenders in the heavyweight division. Sharkey, a former champion and veteran of many historic battles, represented the toughest test of Louis' career to date.
