Jeff Ford tackles one of the jobs he hates most — going in behind somebody else and untangling a wiring disaster buried in the dash of a 1967 Mustang. What started as a "15-minute, four-bolt" transmission swap for owner Kylie has snowballed into a full-systems restoration, and now it's down to the American Auto Wire harness that was installed... let's just say, poorly.
In this one, Jeff shows you how to clean up, re-group, and properly loom an aftermarket wiring harness the right way — sorting instrument feeds from engine feeds and lighting circuits, safely capping the unused VSS speed-signal wires on a car running a standard speedometer, and hunting down why this Mustang's dash lights were burning 24/7 (spoiler: they never should have been). He also shares the real shop tricks he leans on every day: door-edge welting to keep those razor-sharp classic Ford dash edges from shredding your arms, 1/16" black edge trim to stop wire chafe on exposed runs, and wire-loom magnets to dress speaker wiring flat against a 1960s metal dash.
If you own a classic Ford, a vintage Mustang, or any muscle car running an aftermarket harness like American Auto Wire, this is a real-world lesson in taking bad work and making it right — the fit and fiddle that classic car life is really made of.
Big thanks to Joseph and Logan for running camera and lending a hand (and a whole lot of zip ties) on this one.

T-shirts help pay Joseph, our teenage production assistant who's putting every dollar into his XJ Jeep. Grab one and you're funding a kid's first build.
Patreon at the $10 level gets you monthly Zoom meetings with Jeff plus Trivia Night, where the prize is a one-off t-shirt with YOUR car on it.
It's not a problem, it's a project.
